Summary: Arlian had never left his home village in the Obsidian Mountains. The green hills, white peaks, and black glass were all he had ever known of life, and though he dreamed of travel and adventure, he knew deep in his heart that he would probably never leave.Until the dragon weather came. Incredible heat, oppressive humidity, dark and angry clouds . . . and dragons. Dragons with no feelings, no empathy, no use for humans; dragons who destroyed his entire village and everyone in it. Everyone, that is, except Arlian.Orphaned and alone, Arlian the child is captured by looters and sold as a mining slave. Seven years later Arlian the man escapes, fueled by years of hatred for the dragons, bandits, and slavers that took his youth away--and a personal vow to exact retribution from those who have wronged him.As Arlian makes his way through life, he is obsessed with the concept of justice, and that obsession informs every task, every decision. Even Black, the man he befriends and grows to love as a brother, has little influence against Arlian's obsession. His entire life has one purpose, and one purpose only: to mete out justice. But can one righteous man change the entire world for the better? Or is he doomed by his own actions to become as unjust as those he seeks to destroy?

Summary: When I first started reading this book, I was like 'why did I but this?' That only lasted for about three pages. Really, when I found out that this book was about animated furniture that had escaped, each part with a different peice of a wizards self of soul of some such thing, i thought it would get boring eventually. I was wrong, it only got better. Wheather because it was kind of short or because it was such a good read, i read this book in about four hours.

Summary: Every wizard in Ethshar knew that if you needed something special, something difficult to find, that Gresh the Supplier was the man to see. He was expensive, but always delivered. So when the Wizards' Guild finally got fed up with the little green nuisances that called themselves "spriggans," the Guild hired Gresh to fetch them the magic mirror that created the troublesome imps. The wizards thought finding it looked impossible. Gresh thought his methods would do the job. But no one had asked the spriggans what they thought!

Summary: This was my first DW book, and it made a lot more sense after I read Mutineers' Moon. In this book, Senior Fleet Captain Colin MacIntyre, having defeated the mutineers and restored the Imperial Planetoid Dahak to working order, goes off to find as much of the Fifth Imperium Battle Fleet as he can, because the Achuultani have returned, and this time, they're going to finish the job. But at the first few stops he makes, certain clues lead Colin to suspect an unthinkable conclusion--maybe the Achuultani aren't the only danger to the Imperium this Galaxy holds! Finally, Colin decides the heck with it and sets sail for the capital system, where he's sure to find someone who can help him, right? Those who are into Solar geography will be pleased or outraged as Weber "juggles borders," while tipping a hat to Arthur C. Clarke's 2001. The battle scenes are very realistic (as far as the word "realitic" can apply between starship battles) and the human interest is very touching. Those readers who are active Whovians will recognize the obvious ripoff--the names have been changed to avoid copyright infringement. For those of you who like battles, bureaucracy, alien enemies, and imponderables like how a Galactic Imperium fifty-odd thousand years ahead of us can fall apart in a matter of months--without the Achuultani's help--then this book is for you!

Summary: While I tend to be over-critical in my reviews of books, when I like something, I like it.

I've been an Honor Harrington fan since she went to Basilisk Station. Followed her all the way through, and watched what happened. What can I say, I'm an Honor fan.

Put simply, I liked the book. Yes, some of the battle scenes with missile counts were somewhat repetitive, but I just sort of skimmed that.

I found myself talking to the book at times, trying to impart to the characters what I figured must be coming, and what they should see.

The characterizations are, as always, excellent. I found myself truly interested in the secondary and tertiary characters that played important parts in the storyline. I can't say too much more without giving away parts of the plot.

It seems that what was alluded to in other books in the Honorverse may come to pass. The shooting war with Haven is exciting, but other venues may be explored in upcoming books.

I recommend this book without reservation, it's a very good read. Spend your money on this one, I think you'll be very happy with the purchase.

Summary: this is the best science fiction series of books i've ever read. I rarely read a book more than once, but i've read all the books in this series at least 3 times straight through. I have trouble putting them down even to stop to eat. Mr. Weber, if you're reading this, I encourage you to keep writing on this series all the way to it's logical conclusion, the destruction of the Achu'Ultan computer.

Summary: The Star Kingdom has a new generation of officers! And this elite group hand-picked and trained by Honor Harrington herself is going to be needed immediately, as their first assignment turns out to be more dangerous than anyone expected. What was supposed to be a quiet outpost, far from the blazing conflict between the Star Kingdom of Manticore and the People's Republic of Haven has actually been targeted by an unholy alliance between the slaveholders of Manpower, the rival star kingdoms of Mesa and Monica, and the bureaucrats of the Solarian League. The alliance stands to benefit if the Havenites defeat Manticore, and are preparing for a surprise attack from the rear to divide Manticore's forces, which are already strained nearly to their limits. With their captain, the young Manticoran officers will risk their careers, if not their lives, on an unauthorized mission to expose and counter the threat to their Star Kingdom. Follow their journey as they show what they're made of. New York Times best-selling author David Weber begins a new series that will be a must-buy for the hundreds of thousands of Honor Harrington fans.
